Aftermath
It is interesting to think about the word aftermath. I'm not talking about that time after the class about numbers where you add, subtract, multiply and divide, but rather that place in time when you realize there is a huge mess to clean up. My 5 and 2 year old boys have mastered the process of creating an aftermath--bucket of lego bricks on the floor combined with matchbox cars and a pile of other toys that takes an eternity to clean up.
In our lives we tend to have piles of aftermath. The best possible way to look at aftermath is it is stuff we just have to clean up. Piece by piece until there is some level of tidiness or organization. The real beauty of an aftermath is what we learn through the process. As the chaos is happening and things are spinning out of control we rarely take the time to sit and say what am I learning from all this? But God is speaking thru the process and we need to find the time to step back from the mess and evaluate.
Katrina, Rita, and what ever other storms may come into our lives this year are hear to teach us life lessons about how powerless we are on our own and how strong we can be when we come together.
